Find our top advice on this on our website, as well as details on our internship schemes and bursary schemes – the latter which can help fund unpaid or low-paid work experience in sectors where it is hard to get paid experience: media, arts & heritage, and not-for-profit.
2. We’ll send you news and events relating to your sector(s) of interest
Join the Careers Service on Handshake Cambridge – an innovative platform for managing your career planning and future applications. From there, you’ll be able to make a profile and select your career areas of interest, and our careers advisers will keep you informed about relevant events, competitions, and funding.
3. You can always count on us for CV and applications advice
A good application, whether a CV and cover letter or application form, is critical in getting to the interview stage – whether for an internship, vacation work or graduate role. Our CVs & Applications Book covers topics including understanding recruitment; sample CVs and cover letters; application forms; speculative applications; managing your online presence; and applications for further study. Once term starts, you can make the most of the careers fairs and events we offer, which employers who are specifically looking for Cambridge students attend. All of these will be publicised via Handshake, and we’re operating remotely during the pandemic, so there will be plenty of virtual fairs and sessions to choose from throughout your first weeks and months here.
